Recommended Daily Allowance: 50 mcg

Physiological Effects: Aids Vitamin E. Protects internal fats from oxidation.  Recent research has shown anti-cancer properties.  Preserves tissue elasticity and antibody formation. Aids protein metabolism.  Needed for the synthesis of coenzyme Q, which increases the body's resistance to infectious diseases, hypertension, heart disease, malignancies and gum disorders.  Selenium is an antioxidant.  Is a component of the enzyme glutathione perioxidase, which is important to the blood vessels and heart.  Neutralize is heavy metal pollutants (mercury, cadmium, silver, and lead).

Deficiency Disorders: Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis, premature aging, Kwashiorkor disease, heart disease, pancreatic problems.

Natural Sources: Bran, wheat germ, tuna fish, lobster, broccoli, bunnies, tomatoes, eggs, whole grain.

Synergistic Substances: Proteins, Vitamin E.

Antagonistic Substances: Mercury, cadmium, silver, arsenic, sulfate, food processing.
