Physiological Effects: Vital for nervous stimulation of the
heart. Acts in sodium-potassium
intracellular fluid balance. Helps
maintaining normal pH. Regulates kidney
functions. Assist in converting glucose
to glycogen. Necessary for adrenal
functions. Assist in oxygen transport to
the brain.
Deficiency Disorders: Low blood sugar, irregular
heartbeat, respiratory failure, muscle weakness and paralysis, indigestion and
flatulence.
