Recommended Daily Allowance: (FDA)  .06 mg for infants.

                             2 mg for adults, pregnant and lactating women.

 Physiological Effects: Acts as a catalyst in oxidation-reduction reactions.  Aids in formation of RBC's.  A constituent of many enzymes.  Synergistic with Vitamin C in forming elastin.  Helps produce RNA.  Essential in formation of myelin sheath.  Component of several enzyme systems.  Necessary for proper iron absorption.

Deficiency Disorders: Blood vascular defects, anemia, difficult respiration, skin lesions, bone disease, loss of sense of taste, loss of hair color, infantile diarrhea. Edema.

Natural Sources: Organ meats, seafoods, nuts, molasses, raisins, chocolate, legumes, liver, avocados, whole wheat.

Synergistic Substances: Cobalt, iron, the seat, molybdenum.

Antagonistic Substances: Dianabol, laxatives, oral contraceptives, excessive intake of zinc, cadmium.
